Men Who Hate Women

Fighting back against the war on women!

Thoughts on things other than men who hate women

Just an FYI - since I have thoughts on politics that don’t revolve around all the men in Congress who hate women so very much, I have another politics-oriented blog called The Rational American that is an outlet for the rest of my political frustration. Right now there is a lot of tax- and debt ceiling-related frustration. Shocker.

I’m sorry posts have gotten a little slower; things at work have been a little insane so I’m behind on getting my profiles of these women-hating men together. But if you have ANYTHING to say that relates to these men who hate women and the war on women in general PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE either use the SUBMIT BUTTON or the ASK BUTTON to send it over for publication. ALL PRO-WOMAN THINGS WILL BE POSTED. TROLLS, TROLL SOMEWHERE ELSE. THIS IS SERIOUS SHIT.

Updates will resume as soon as this enormous pile of paper is off my desk.

States Enact Record Number of Abortion Restrictions in First Half of 2011

In case you thought it was coincidental. In case you thought the Tea Party and the Republican Party was trying to fix the economy and doing some social conservative stuff on the side. In case you thought the men in congresses — state and federal — across this country didn’t actually hate women.

“If you care about black babies…”

Missouri State House Representative Tishaura O. Jones wrote a scathing critique of the Missouri Right To Life’s billboard campaign trying to pass off their anti-choice, anti-woman mission as concern for the black community.

I’ve been a patient of Planned Parenthood in three cities — St. Louis, Hampton, Va., and Los Angeles. None were in black neighborhoods.

I was a patient there because my mother (who is now deceased) told me that the best place for a young woman’s reproductive health was Planned Parenthood. If she had not given me that sage advice, I wouldn’t be alive today.

Rep. John Boehner - (R) Ohio 8th District and Speaker of the House
Oh, Mr. Boehner. He of the man-tears and the Newt Gingrich heritage. You’d think a man who lived through the irrational and irresponsible partisanism of the Clinton era would have developed a more nuanced world view but nope! He’s just as filled with hate for women, non-whites, and working class Americans as the rest of the Republican party. Let’s check out some highlights from his 21 years in Congress:
NO on the 1993 Fetus Tissue Research Bill (a bill that asked to allow fetal tissue, rich with stem cells, to be used for research and provided research money to the National Institutes of Health)YES to the 1993 Abortion Counseling Bill (which requires women to speak to counselors providing religious and non-medical reasons to carry a pregnancy to term before having an abortion)YES on the 1995 Overseas Military Abortions Act (which makes it illegal for military personnel overseas to obtain an abortion overseas unless the life of the mother is in danger — note this excludes sexual assault, rape, and incest as justifications for overseas military abortions!)YES to ALL Late Term Abortion Bans from 1995-2003NO to the 1996 Medicaid Funded Abortion Bill (which would allow Medicaid funds to be used to pay for abortions in cases of rape and incest)NO to the 1996 Non-Federally Funded Abortion Bill (which would allow the use of non-federal funds to pay for abortions in the District of Columbia)YES to the 1996 Population Planning Bill (which provided funds for international family planning organizations unless they offered abortion services)NO on the 1997 Overseas Military Medical Facility Amendment (which would allow servicepeople to pay for their own abortions, privately, overseas)YES on the 1998 and 1999 Child Custody Protection Act (which prohibits transporting a minor across state lines to obtain an abortion and avoid parental notification of that abortion, you know in case their parents would force them to carry the child to term)NO on the 1998 Abortion Funding Amendment (which would allow DC to use district, not federal, funds to pay for residents’ abortions)YES on the 1998 Contraceptive Amendment (which requires parents be notified when minors obtain contraception to use for safe sex)NO on the 2000 Prison Abortion Funding Amendment (which would allow abortions in prisons not only in the cases of rape, incest, and medical emergency)NO on the 2000 Family Planning Assistance Funding Amendment (which would allow funds to be given to family planning organizations that provide information and advocacy for abortion services)NO to the 2005 Overseas Military Facilities Abortion AmendmentYES to the 2006 Abortion Pain BillYES to 2009 Prohibiting Federally Funded Abortion Services NO to the Equal Pay BillNO to all Employment Discrimination Law Amendments from 2008-2009
And, of course there’s also his miserable deeply conservative record on civil liberties and civil rights, education, energy issues, environmental issues, health care, immigration, and a whole lot else that will just leave you really depressed.
John Boehner hasn’t devoted his career to stripping women’s rights down to nothing like many in his party, but that doesn’t mean he’s a friend of women. He may not hate us, but John Boehner sure as hell doesn’t respect women, and is happy to support his women-hating peers to force us back into second class citizenship. Full of hatred or not, John Boehner is an enemy of women.

John Boehner, Michele Bachmann call on Obama to "Tell the truth" while not realizing that's exactly what he's doing

John Boehner (entry coming shortly) and Michele Bachmann (avowed woman-hater and general American-people-hater) called upon President Obama to “tell the truth” about the consequences of not raising the debt ceiling, as if that’s not what he’s been doing already. From the CBS News article above:

President Obama caused a stir Tuesday when he told the CBS Evening News he “cannot guarantee” the 27 million Social Security checks due out on August 3rd would be mailed as scheduled if Congress did not first reach a deal, though White House spokesman Jay Carney on Wednesday expressed confidence it would not come to that.

White House hopeful Michele Bachmann called Mr. Obama’s remarks “dangerous” and called on the president to “tell the truth.”

“We cannot go on scaring the American people, we need to be truthful. And I call on the president and the Treasury Secretary (Timothy Geithner) to tell the truth to the American people,” the Minnesota Republican lawmaker told reporters on Capitol Hill.

As if we needed further proof that Michele Bachmann is a complete idiot, there it is. That IS the truth, Michele. If America defaults in August, our economy will crumble and we may or may not be able to provide social security our citizens. Hell, the global economy will crumble. Do you not understand what “default” and “default on loans” means? Or “economic crisis”? Or “devastating effect on the world economy,” the words the Fed and the rest of our economic overseers have been using for weeks now? No? Clearly, Bachmann isn’t just in need of Remedial American History and Remedial Math (since she doesn’t seem to understand that reducing the deficit cannot simply be solved by cutting spending but also REQUIRES increased tax revenue), but Remedial English and Remedial Reading Comprehension as well. Dear god, someone send Congress to public school!

As for the Speaker of the House John Boehner, it seems his listening skills are also on the fritz:

Asked what would happen if the United States defaulted on its debt obligations for the first time because Republicans and Democrats could not come to an agreement before the deadline, Boehner said: “Nobody wants to go there, because nobody knows what’s going to happen. It’s a crapshoot.”

No, Mr. Speaker. It is not a “crapshoot.” It is a certainty: The American economy will crumble and the world economy will plunge into SERIOUS trouble if America defaults by not raising the debt ceiling. Unbunch your panties, suck it up, and give in to the compromise. You’re on the verge of dooming us all.

And, Mr. President: You’re amazing. Please go on television and rip these men and women a new one. Don’t let their misanthropic hate destroy this great nation. We know you can do it. We stand behind you.

In the meantime, if you live in a state that is represented by the pig-headed, idiotic Tea Party and Republican leadership, call and write and raise a big stink about how you want the debt ceiling raise. You know, so we can have any future at all.

Rep. Michele Bachmann - (R) Minnesota 6th District
This blog has a pretty specific title: “Men Who Hate Women.” But we’d be fools to think there aren’t WOMEN who hate women as well. And lordy, Michele Bachmann hates women. You’d think she’d have compassion, what with her family and her 23 foster children, but really she just uses that as a platform on which to slut-shame women who don’t believe in adhering to the strict standards of purity and virginity put forth by fundamentalist Christians who are completely out of touch with the realities of society and whose solution to those realities is to bring about the rapture in order to get rid of all the riff-raff (like, you know, all of us) and take over the world.
No, really. That’s what she believes.
She also believes that John Quincy Adams was a founding father.
(Check out JQ’s actual biography and lifespan here.)
Michele has only been serving in Congress since 2006 but she’s managed to do a lot of damage in that time. Let’s take a look at her voting record:
YES on Prohibiting Taxpayer Funds for AbortionYES on defunding Planned Parenthood nationallyYES on Prohibiting Federally Funded Abortion ServicesYES on Prohibiting Funding for National Public RadioNO on the DREAM ActNO on the Equal Pay Bill (which would prohibit gender-based pay discrimination)NO on the Emergency Extended Unemployment CompensationNO on Infant Morality Pilot Programs (which would help lower infant mortality rates in vulnerable communities — but Michele! I thought you loved the babies!)NO on the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization and Expansion (in both 2007 and 2009)YES on Repealing State Health Benefit ExchangesYES on Repealing Funding for School-Based Health Center ConstructionNO on the 9/11 Health and Compensation ActNO on the Aiding Those Facing Foreclosure ActNO on Flood Insurance Program ExtensionNO on the Mine Safety ActNO on Employment Discrimination Act Amendments (aimed at reinforcing protections against gender discrimination)NO on Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007
It should be clear by now: Michele Bachmann hates women. And a lot of other people too. Wow.

Rep. Chip Cravaack - (R) Minnesota 8th District
Chip is a new guy, elected last year (2010), who ran on the typical far-Right platform of cutting taxes and creating jobs and who has since revealed himself to be, like his colleagues, an ideologue who believes that America is a Christian country that should be governed by biblical standards and that women are subordinate to all and should not be given the right to control their own bodies. His voting record is short, but offensive to all! Chip voted:
YES on HR3 (the rape-audit bill)YES on defunding Planned Parenthood nationallYES on defunding National Public Radio (you know, since they don’t support right wing ideology)YES on Prohibiting Taxpayer Funding for AbortionYES on Repealing Funding for School-Based Health Center ConstructionYES on Repealing the Prevention and Public Health FundYES on the Energy Tax Prevention ActYES on terminating the Neighborhood Stabilization ProgramYES on repealing funding for the State Health Benefit ProgramYES on terminating the Emergency Mortgage Relief Program
Clearly, Chip Cravaack hates women. But it doesn’t stop there: he also hates poor people, non-white people, and anyone who isn’t a far-Right ideologue! Note that he hasn’t created a single job for his district, or increasing federal funding for them, or helped any of his constituents secure health insurance, life insurance, or any other benefits that they may need in this time of crisis. Instead he’s tried to take money away from all of the services the government tries to provide to its citizens because it is our right to have affordable or FREE access to it — like health care, education, homes, and protection from greedy bankers and selfish politicians. Like Chip Cravaack! How ‘bout that!
Yes, Chip Cravaack hates women. He hates everyone.

I’m gonna need your help.

The purpose of this blog is to expose just how hateful, racist, sexist, classists and bigoted so many politicians who currently hold power in our country are. My day job is as a receptionist, and I’ve spent far too many months seething in front of my computer screen in silent rage at the injustices I read about dozens of times a day. I created this blog because I just could not take it anymore.

But I also can’t do this alone. I will continue to profile all the misogynistic politicans in Congress and hopefully many in our state governments as well. But this blog depends, more than anything, on the raising of voices these horrible people are so desperate to silence: ours. This blog accepts ALL questions, comments, ideas and concerns. It also encourages our readers to SUBMIT posts of their own — testimonials, news articles, videos, pictures, ANYTHING. The most hateful thing all these men have done is to presume they not only have the right but the responsibility to speak for women, and also that they have no responsibility to listen to them. Well, too fucking bad. We are women, we are people, we are equals, and we are LOUD. So let’s let ‘em have it.

We won’t let them win this war.

Some believe their own personal religious beliefs should shape the development policies of the international community. In countries such as Poland, Hungary and Romania, where abortion is in danger of becoming illegal, even for victims of rape, or women whose lives are at risk, these groups believe that governments should use the moral power of religion to strengthen the family and control people’s personal choices.

DO YOU WANT TO HELP?

This fight is just starting. There are so many ways to help.

1. Check out NARAL (National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League) and donate! Website: http://prochoiceamerica.org

2. Join NARAL to help restore Washington DC women’s right to have their abortions paid for with money raised locally (and privately!) by the DC Abortion Fund. Write your representative HERE.

3. Join NARAL to fight for the rights of servicewomen to get help paying for an abortion! The laws right now demand that women in the military who get pregnant as the result of rape pay for their own abortions. Sign the petition and find out what else you can to do end this misogynistic injustice HERE.

4. Join NARAL and hold responsible those in congress who voted YES for HR3, the “rape-audit” bill that seeks to redefine rape and deny abortions and health services to millions of women HERE.

5. Help keep Planned Parenthood afloat and able to help women all across America. DONATE NOW.

6. Volunteer with Planned Parenthood and help your neighbors get access to the health care they’re entitled to!

7. Join with Planned Parenthood to STOP THE SMITH BILL.

8. What is YOUR state doing to strip women of their rights? FIND OUT and FIGHT BACK.

This list is just the very, very tip of the iceberg. Do you know of organizations/groups/people who are fighting to stop the war on women at ANY level (local, state, national)? LET US KNOW. We will post any and every way in which we can help stop the war on women and get these women-hating politicians OUT of office!
